Hypertension or high blood pressure is a medical condition in wherein there is an increased pressure on the arteries and other small blood vessels inside the body. Unfortunately, this is probably the number one cause of death across the globe. In most cases, hypertension cannot be felt at all typically because of its undetectable symptoms unless you regularly go to hospitals for check-ups.
Hypertension is generally classified into four stages: Pre-hypertension, stage 1 hypertension, stage 2 hypertension and stage 3 hypertension. These stages differ from their amount of blood pressure. Pre-hypertension has systolic blood pressure reading of 120-139 (80-89 diastolic blood pressure) but the most serious one is surely stage 3 hypertension. Stage 3 hypertension has a systolic blood pressure reading of about 180 and above (diastolic blood pressure reading of 110 and above). There is a persistent elevation of blood pressure in this stage so that’s why this is the most dangerous stage among the four stages.
In stage 3 hypertension, the heart most especially experiences a lot of damage around its surrounding area. The kidneys might also be affected since arteries and blood vessels pass through the kidneys for blood circulation. Some abnormalities may occur if you have stage 3 hypertension. There are cases which showed inconsistencies on kidney damage. These events may show that condition is very crucial and really needs some medical attention. You are also prone to have hemorrhages in the brain or in the arteries and eye defects and that shows how really serious the condition is. If not taken proper measures, it might further damage your brain thus affecting its vital functions and also the heart’s role in blood circulation.
Stage 1 hypertension and stage 2 hypertension are still manageable in a sense that you only need to change your lifestyle and routines to reduce the risk of having high blood pressure. However, stage 3 hypertension might not be that easy to counter. You may already have other health problems aside from hypertension. There are also chances when you develop new health problems when you have stage 3 hypertension so it is most advisable to go to the hospital and let them do the job. So we see here that there is a great importance of early detection of the disease. The earlier you inquire treatment and change your lifestyle, the higher the possibility that you might get cured. Thus, the essence of time is very important. It’s a life saver.
