A diet that is very high in Calcium will cause the formation of kidney stones. A person who is otherwise at a risk of getting kidney stones should try to decrease the calcium intake to prevent stone formation in the kidney.

The medication that people take for various diseases can also case the formation of stones in the kidney. So the causes are not limited but are varied and need to be taken care of to prevent the formation of kidney stones.
