How To Cook Frozen Raw Shrimp

1. Select a medium or large variety of shrimp with the shells on. Usually shrimps are frozen immediately after being caught at sea. This keeps the shrimp fresh and preserves the flavour.

2. First thaw the shrimp properly. Cooking shrimp while it is frozen causes it to lose flavour.

3. Thaw shrimp by putting it in a plastic bag and place it in cold water till completely thawed. Shrimp does not take long to thaw.

4. Cooking shrimp with shell locks in the juices and flavour. Some people remove the shells before cooking. In case you want to do so, keep the tails on as it is easy to eat.

5. To cook shrimp, boil a big pot of water and add salt and a little lemon juice in water. Turn the heat off and add the thawed shrimp in water. Let it cook till done.

6. Shrimp can also be pan fired, grilled, or coated with seasoned bread crumbs or flour and deep fried.

7. To sauté raw shrimp, add a few slivers of garlic and salt to a hot skillet, add shrimp in the garlic pieces. Cook till done.

8. To grill shrimp, add marinade on top and keep aside for 15-20 minutes. You can also prepare a glaze to spread over shrimp while cooking. Preheat the grill and add shrimps on skewers. Grill for a total of 2-3 minutes till done. Add glaze on the both sides of the shrimps. Remove and serve hot.

9. To deep fry clean shrimp, heat oil. Season bread crumbs with salt, pepper, chilli flakes, garlic and onion powder. Dip shrimps in egg and then in prepared bread crumbs. Once coated, remove the excess bread crumbs and put the shrimps in oil. Fry for a few minutes, till the coated shrimps turn golden brown. Remove and serve with hot sauce.

10. When done shrimp turns pink, and curls up. This takes about three to five minutes. Do not overcook the shrimp.

11. Serve with a cocktail sauce.

12. Shrimps can be used to make stock and are popular in barbeques. It is easy to cook shrimp and can be added in pastas, rice dishes, and curries.
