How Do You Make Goulash

Goulash is one of the most historical dishes that are still alive up until today. Tracked back as far as 800 A.D, it was cooked by the Magyars where they use a humongous cauldron and cooked it over an open fire. You may have tasted goulash and want to know how do you make goulash. In order to make goulash, you will need these following ingredients.

• 600 g beef sheen or shoulder, or any tender part of the beef cut into 2×2 cm cubes
• 2 tablespoons oil or lard
• 2 medium onions, chopped
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 1-2 carrots, diced
• 1 parsnip, diced
• 1-2 cellery leafes
• 2 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped, or 1 tbs. tomato paste
• 2 fresh green peppers
• 2-3 medium potatoes, sliced
• 1 tablespoon Hungarian paprika powder
• 1 teaspoon ground caraway seed
• 1 bayleaf
• Ground black pepper and salt according to taste
• Water

Heat up the oil and braise the chopped onions until fragrant and turn into golden brown color. Sprinkle the braised onions with paprika powder and add the beef cubes, chopped garlic and caraway seed, salt, ground black pepper and bayleaf. Keep on stirring them and the beef cubes will produce their own juice. When the meat looks half-cooked, it is the time you add the diced carrots, parsnip, potatoes and celery leaf. By this time you would want to add in water. If you add in more water, it is advisable that you put in more salt and spices for the taste. When the vegetables and the meat are almost done, add the tomato cubes and the sliced green peppers and let it cook on heat until it boils.
