    Who Is Joseph Kony

Who Is Joseph Kony? Joseph Kony was born in the 1960s in the Ugandan village of Odek. Those close to him during his childhood paint the picture of a normal boy who served as an altar boy at church and played sports. So, who is Joseph Kony who has become a household name in the United States?

He is a notorious warlord in central Africa. His group of militant rebels are known for horrendous crimes against civilians in the region.

Many sources say that the militant group is responsible for many murders and kidnappings as well as amputations and the disfigurement of civilians. Some say that Kony’s group would kidnap the children of a family and kill the rest of the family.

He told a reporter who filmed him that the goals of his group of guerilla fighters was for the freedom of the people of Uganda. He mentioned that he wants the people in Uganda to be able to have democracy and elect their leaders.

His crimes against the people who he says he is trying to help seem to contradict his stated motivation. He has repeatedly attacked civilians in remote villages and kidnapped numerous children for his own use which does not seem to reflect a focus on the goal of democracy.

The victims of his violence do not seem to have any power to affect the government of Uganda. Therefore, it appears as if he has a different agenda than the one he claims to have.

Kony may have been introduced into the life of a rebel leader by a relative. A former prostitute and possibly a cousin to Kony had created a rebel group known as the Holy Spirit Movement.

The leader of this group, Alice Lakwena, told people that the Holy Spirit would guide her and protect her followers. When the leader of the Holy Spirit Movement fled to Kenya, Kony founded the Lord’s Resistance Army. He told his followers that the Holy Spirit now guided him.

He preaches to his followers. Joseph Kony instructs them to follow certain religious rituals such as making crosses with oil on their foreheads, chests, and guns before fighting. This ritual is believed to help prevent the fighters from dying. The people believe they will die while fighting if they fail to draw these crosses with oil.

People believe that Kony may have over sixty wives that he chose from girls that the group captured though the exact number of wives is unknown. Other men of high rank in his organization may have numerous kidnapped wives as well.

Joseph Kony’s war crimes have not escaped the attention of the International Criminal Court (ICC). There is a warrant for his arrest due to an indictment for thirty-three war crimes.

At one time, Kony was negotiating peace with Uganda. Kony’s deputy, Vincent Otti, was handing the peace negotiations. However, Otti died of mysterious circumstances during the negotiations. Some people believe Kony ordered Otti to be killed, because Kony was unhappy with the peace deal.

Though Kony is in hiding, he continues to be a threat to the people of central Africa. However, most agree that the height of his regime has long passed. Still, some reports speculate that Kony is responsible for attacks in the Congo in 2012.

Critics of the media attention directed at the violent warlord say that the biggest threats in Uganda are diseases like malaria. Kony was chased out of Uganda several years ago. It was believed that he had fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

People in Uganda accused the Congo of impeding the search for Joseph Kony. The Democratic Republic of Congo declares that Kony has been chased out of the country and no longer poses a threat in the Congo.

While many people applaud the U.S.-based Invisible Children charity for raising awareness about this guerilla violence, many criticize their publicity for not making it clear that Kony has been driven out of Uganda. Also, it remains unclear to the audience how the charity in the United States can use donations to aid in the capture of the warlord on the run in central Africa.

Whether the charity’s motives are pure, reckless, or selfish, the charity has successfully focused attention to the activities of the violent warlord in hiding. Now that the people of America know who is Joseph Kony, the new question is, “How will he be brought to justice?”

How Much Does Flipper Teeth Cost – Flipper Tooth Bridge Cost

A dental flipper (tooth) is an option to replacing a missing tooth. Though dental implants are much more secure and often more comfortable than flipper teeth, the expense of dental implants inhibits many people from being able to obtain the better option.

Flipper teeth are in fact false teeth that are held in place by an apparatus similar to an orthodontic retainer. These flipper teeth may also be secured to other teeth with metal clips. Even though the flipper teeth improve the person’s appearance, the person may have difficulty chewing with these false teeth since they are not very secure. Most people remove them when they are eating.

Commonly used, the flipper teeth are often considered a temporary solution until the person can afford a dental implant or bridge. Flipper teeth can be uncomfortable and difficult to get used to. Many people using flipper teeth complain of irritation of their mouths.

How much do flipper teeth cost? In the United States, flipper teeth typically cost about five hundred dollars. For many people, this is just too expensive for a temporary solution to missing teeth. If the person will soon be able to afford the implant or bridge to replace the missing tooth or teeth, the person may want to consider temporarily going without the tooth.

Whether the person can continue to live without the missing tooth or must buy flipper teeth until they can afford a dental implant or bridge is really a personal decision. For instance, going without the tooth may be somewhat easier for someone who works in the home compared to someone who is in the public spotlight. A person must decide their tolerance of being without teeth to determine if the flipper teeth are a necessary expense.

Getting dental implants is not an instant solution to missing teeth. The process of getting a bridge or dental implants can take several months. The first stage of getting a dental implant requires oral surgery to anchor the implant in the jaw. The person must often wait 3 to 6 months or longer before the second stage can be completed. Therefore, that person may decide to use flipper teeth until the dental implants can be prepared and implanted.

How To Upgrade Iphone To IOS4 – How To Update Iphone To IOS4 Smartly

Apple just released the Iphone Operating System Version 4 yesterday, and even before the release millions of Iphone users were waiting impatiently for its due release – including myself.

Why are we waiting impatiently? Well, its because of the wonderful little features that we always wanted.

With over 100 new features, the free iOS 4 Software Update will let you do so many amazing things.
    i.e
    i) Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily.

ii) Organize apps into folders with drag-and-drop simplicity. Get faster access to your favorites and browse and manage up to 2160 apps. One of my personal favorite. More more more!!

iii) See messages from all your accounts in a unified inbox, organize messages by threads, open attachments in third-party apps, and more.

iv) able to change the background wallpaper on your Home screen. Magical!!

Now we will show you how to update your iPhone 3G or 3GS to iPhone iOS4

    i) Make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes, which is the 9.2.0.61 (very important). Connect your iPhone to your computeras usual.

ii) When iTunes opens, select your iPhone under Devices in the Source List on the left.

iii) In the iPhone Summary pane, click “Check for Update”.

iv) Click Download and Install. Do not disconnect your iPhone until the update has finished. Do not remove the USB connection when the iPhone is upgrading the firmware as this will corrupt your iPhone.

How Does The Human Ear Work

How does the human ear work? The parts of our ear turn sound waves into vibrations which are then translated into nerve messages that are sent to our brain. For someone who wants to learn how does the human ear work, diagrams of the ear and articles about how the parts of the ear work can be helpful. Here is an overview of how the human ear works.

In general, sound travels into the ear from the external ear. The external ear, or outer ear, is the part of the ear that is visible plus the ear canal. Sound enters the ear through the outer ear and travels to the eardrum. Blockages of the ear canal can stop sound waves from reaching the eardrum. Hearing loss caused by sound not being able to travel to the inner ear is called conductive hearing loss.

The sound waves cause the eardrum, also called the tympanic membrane, to vibrate. These vibrations pass to the middle ear. Injury to the eardrum that prevents the vibrations from passing to the middle ear causes conductive hearing loss. The middle ear has three tiny, bony structures that pass the vibrations to the inner ear. These tiny parts of the middle ear are called the ossicles. The three bony structures are called the hammer, anvil, and stirrup.

The cochlea, semi-circular canals, and auditory nerve make up the inner ear. The outside of the inner ear is called the bony labyrinth. Sound vibrations are delivered by a part of the middle ear called the stapes through a round window of the bony labyrinth.

The inner ear is filled with perilymph fluid, similar to intercellular fluid. Hair-like cell projections in the cochlea pick up the vibrations in the fluid. The inner ear translates the vibrations into nerve messages that are delivered to the auditory nerve which rests at the base of the cochlea.

The auditory nerve, named the “eighth nerve“, carries these messages to the brain. If there is hearing loss due to the inability of the inner ear to pass information to the auditory nerve or damage to the auditory nerve, the hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss.

How Do I Get Rid Of Pink Eye

How do i get rid of pink eye: Pink eye (medically known as conjunctivitis) is a medical condition in which the conjunctiva become inflamed. Pink eye can occur due to several reasons: bacterial or viral infection, exposure to contaminants or chemicals, allergic reaction to something or even chlamydia.

Soothe pink eye with a hot or cool compress. Soak clean, lint-free cloths in hot water (cold water for allergic conjunctivitis), wring them out, and place them on your closed eyelids for 10-20 minutes.

This can be done several times a day to soothe and get rid of pink eye symptoms. Afterwards, the cloths should be put in the wash or thrown away immediately to prevent spreading contagious pink eye. Also, if only one eye is infected, don’t blanket a cloth over both eyes or you’ll certainly spread it to the healthy one.

Use antibiotics to get rid of bacterial pink eye. Antibiotics are the best, easiest way to get rid of pink eye. Even if your outbreak was caused by something other than bacteria, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics in case of a secondary infection.

Usually, antibiotic eye drops are used to treat pink eye, but you may need an ointment or oral antibiotic for an uncooperative child. Practice good hygiene when applying the medication. Wash your hands before and after, and if you’re using a dropper, don’t let it touch your eye or you’ll have to pick up a new one.

Temporarily get rid of pink eye symptoms with OTC eye drops and pain relievers. Don’t use eye drops with vasoconstrictors to treat pink eye. These products do “get the red out” but they also delay healing and in rare cases, damage the eye. Look for saline-based products and gentler alternatives like Similasan’s Pink Eye Relief (especially good for viral pink eye), which can be found in any drugstore. Using acetaminophen (Tylenol, Excedrin) or NSAIDs (Aspirin, Aleve) can help reduce swelling and irritation. They can also calm a crabby, insane child who won’t stop rubbing her eyes.

Get rid of pink eye caused by allergies by using antihistamines and NSAIDs. Allergies can turn you into a sneezy snot factory, but they can also irritate the membranes around your eyes and cause pink eye. When this happens, use antihistamines and an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). There are many OTC options, but if these fail to show results you’ll need to get a stronger prescription allergy medicine.

To get rid of pink eye gunk, use clean cloths or tissues without dyes or perfumes (moisten for added comfort). Start at the inside of the eye at the nose and wipe towards the outside. Find a clean spot on your cloth for each pass. Wash your hands and throw away or wash the wipes immediately when finished to avoid spreading the germs.

How Can I Find Out If Someone Is Married

Finding the right spouse is a tough task nowadays and you can never be sure that your new love is being honest with you? So how can I find out if someone is married?

Well, the first obvious method is to ask the person him/herself. Of course the person might not say the truth, so you can try the various methods I am about to tell you.

You could hire a private investigator or get one of your friends to do some spy work. Follow on the leads from his workplace, his home and perhaps his mates. This method might be a bit too invasive and if he or she catch you doing investigative work on him/her, that would probably be the end of your relationship.

So another method would be, to go check on the internet, checking thru the marriage records (USA). The database is the same one which is used by law enforcers for many years, now it is open to the public, thanks to technological advancements of the internet.

So now you do not need to leave your home and pay a hefty sum of money to private investigators. No excuses now to how you can find out if someone is married. Better be sure than sorry. You may want to check their credit ratings and if they are in huge debts or are they bankrupted before you want to commit yourself into a marriage later on.

Find out more using this service. Check marriage records

What Causes Macrodactyly – Macrodactyly Treatment

Macrodactyly is an uncommon birth defect in which toes or fingers are abnormally bigger due to overgrowth of underlying bone and soft tissue – particularly the nerves, fat and skin of the involved digit or digits. So what causes macrodactyly?

Scientists still do not know why macrodactyly in children happens, but information that is known about the condition shows that it does not result from the mother’s lifestyle or anything the mother did during her pregnancy.

Several ideas exist about the cause of macrodactyly. Some believe that the condition is due to an abnormal nerve supply to the affected digit while others blame an abnormality in the blood vessels and blood supply in the area.

Although neither theory have been proven, some evidence does suggest that nerves have some control over the growth of tissue.

Although it occurs at birth, macrodactyly is not an inherited condition. It can occur in association with neurofibromatosis and vascular malformations. Children with multiple echondromatosis, Maffuci syndrome and tuberous sclerosis can have enlarged digits.

Treatment also depend on whether the macrodactyly occurs in the hand or foot. For instance, if in the hand, the goal would be optimal function, and hand function can tolerate a digit with a certain degree of increased width and length. In the foot, however, even the slightest amount of enlarged width may make shoe wearing difficult.

How To Make A Cat Scratcher – Cat Scratching Post

Cat scratchers can be pretty expensive to buy but how do I build a cat scratcher myself? Well with a few tips and a guide on how to make a cat scratcher, you could possibly build one from scratch, literally.

    1. Decide on the measurements of the post before beginning. The scratching post must be stable, for if it tips easily, your cat may find it to be unsuitable for continued use. The model in the picture measures 28″ tall, and the base is about 18″ by 12″. The post needs to be, at minimum, the length of your kitty plus a couple of inches for her stretch.

    2. Use a 4×4 post or 2-2×4 pieces attached together, and cut to the length needed. Set this aside for a moment.

    3. The base on this model has two layers. The first layer is made by setting 3-12″ sections of 2×6 side by side. Cut 2 sections of 2×6 to match the width of the first layer (16.5″ as 2×6 are in truth 1.5″ by 5.5″). Place these 2 sections of the second layer on top of and parallel to the first layer. Attach the top layer to the bottom with wood screws. This makes for a heavy and stable base.

    4. Cover the base with your scratch material, something along the lines of Berber carpet or AstroTurf. Natural rope, like sisal, is nice, but takes a while to wrap tightly. A manual staple gun is perfect for this project, but roofing nails and flat tacks are also good choices.

    5. Place the post in the center of the base. Attach the post to the base by using one screw on each face of the post.

    6. Cover the post with your cat scratching material, and attach as described for the base.

    7. Attach a favorite toy, or something dangly and irresistable, to the top to entice your cat to get to know the new scratching post.

    8. Now, if you want a double-fun, and double-duty scratching post, attach some old brush heads or something similar about cat’s eye level on the post.

There you have it. Possibly under $50.

What Does A Blood Clot Feel Like

It feels kind of like a charley horse, that won’t go away. Physical symptoms for a phlebitis (which is the safer version) is redness, pain in one spot, pretty localized. A deep vein thrombosis would include swelling of the calf, by an inch or two, discoloration, pain when standing that is alleviated when you put your legs up. It seemed to be under a lot of pressure too, which was due to the blood being unable to circulate properly.

A blood clot in the leg, call Deep Vein Thrombosis, causes the following symptoms.

Swelling, gradual onset of pain, redness, warmth to the touch, leg pain worsens when bending the foot, leg cramps (especially at night), bluish or whitish discoloration of the skin. However, 30-50% of individuals do not experience symptoms. So be certain to check with you doctor for regular physical check up. It is always better to be over cautious then under for DVT.

    Additional Help:

If you have a blood clot in your calf one way you can check is to lay flat on your bed with your legs straight. Flex your foot forward (with your toes bending back toward your shin) while your leg is still flat. If you feel an excruciating pain in your calf, that’s is called a Positive Homan’s Sign, which is indicative of a blood clot in your calf, or deep vein thrombosis. If this is the case, then get your self to the nearest emergency room.

What Foods Can I Eat The Day Before My Colonoscopy

The colon must be thoroughly cleansed before performing colonoscopy. Consequently, for two or more days before the procedure, considerable preparation is necessary to clear the colon of all stool. The patient is asked to refrain from eating any solid food for 24–48 hours before the test.

Two days before your colonoscopy, you may eat light meals that include fat-free clear soups; small portions of skinless chicken or turkey; fish; white bread; eggs; plain noodles; plus any clear liquids.
24 hrs before, only clear liquid such as juices, broth, and gelatin are allowed. Red or purple juices should be avoided, since they can cause coloring of the colon that may be misinterpreted during the colonoscopy.

The patient is advised to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. A day or two before the colonoscopy, the patient is prescribed liquid, tablet, and/or suppository laxatives by the physician. In addition, commercial enemas may be prescribed. The patient is given specific instructions on how and when to use the laxatives and/or enemas.

After breakfast on the day before your examination, you will be following a clear liquid diet. You can eat any of the following:

    Broth or bouillon
Black tea or coffee (you may have sugar)
    Apple juice
    White grape juice
    Ginger ale
    Sprite
    Water
    Plain Jell-O (gelatin)

You may not have any solid food, including butter, cream, fruit, vegetables, seeds, or nuts. Eat or drink nothing that is dark red or purple, such as in juices, Jell-O, or popsicles.

On the morning of the colonoscopy itself, the patient is not to eat or drink anything. Unless otherwise instructed by the physician, the patient should continue to take all current medications. However, vitamins with iron, iron supplements, or iron preparations should be discontinued for a few weeks prior to the colonoscopy because iron residue in the colon can inhibit viewing during the procedure.

These preparatory procedures are extremely important to ensure a thoroughly clean colon for examination.

How To Use A Jump Drive – Flash Drive -Thumb Drive

A jump drive also known as a flash drive or thumb drive is a portable data storage in a small package. It is inexpensive, small as a mini highlighters and easy to fit your pocket and use.

If you have recently invested in or are thinking of getting yourself a jump drive, continue reading our guide on how to use a jump drive to learn how to use it.

Step 1: To connect your jump drive to a computer, simply plug it in to one of the computer’s USB ports. Since jump drives are plug and play, you do not need to install any additional software to ensure that the drive and computer are compatible.

Step 2: Locate the jump drive, depending on your computer, a window may pop up to notify you that the jump drive has been connected and you can immediately access the drive. If a window does not pop up, simply navigate to the area on your computer where you go to access your CD, DVD or hard drives (“My Computer” or “Computer” on Windows machines.) The jump drive will be listed here, likely as a “Removable Drive,” and will have been assigned a drive letter that is not in use by your other drives.

Step 3: Once you have located your jump drive and opened the corresponding window, you are ready to transfer files. Transferring files from your computer to your jump drive is as easy as dragging and dropping the files from your computer hard drive to the jump drive. Conversely, if you have the file open, you can save it to the jump drive by hitting “save” and selecting the jump drive from the drop down menu. Reverse these processes to transfer files from your computer to the jump drive.

Pretty easy right? Watch this video to help see it better.

    What Happens During A Foreclosure

Foreclosure is the result of the borrower defaulting on mortgage payments. It is a complex legal process that can last many months. The overall result of a foreclosure, is that the borrower or the home owner is evicted from the house on account of the inability to make payments. The lender generally recovers only a part of the dues on account of initiating foreclosure proceedings.

What happens during the foreclosure, is that you will receive a certified letter of foreclosure from your lender. This letter is notifying you that they will be setting a court date to get legal permission to exercise their right to repossess your home. At the hearing the court will issue a foreclosure order. The lender now has permission to sell your home at auction.

There is a specified waiting period and after that the lender will publish a legal notice of the foreclosure sale in the paper. This is sometimes called an auction, sheriff’s sale or foreclosure sale. The person with the highest bid is now the owner of the house and can take possession. If you are still in the home it is up to the new owner to perform the eviction.

    What happens after foreclosure?

If there is any debt still owed after the sale, the previous homeowner is still responsible for any money that is owed if the sale of the house does not bring enough to pay of the loan. In they can garnish wages if they choose to go that route if the payments are not being made on a timely schedule. And garnished payments is a payment plan.

What Kind Of Cancer Did Paul Newman Die From

    Paul Newman Has Died

Paul Leonard Newman, the American actor, film director, entrepreneur, humanitarian, and auto racing enthusiast died from a long struggle battle with lung cancer. He died at age 83 on September 26, 2008.

    Short Note:

Newman was one of the few actors who successfully made the transition from 1950s cinema to that of the 1960s and 1970s. His rebellious persona translated well to a subsequent generation.

Newman announced that he would entirely retire from acting on May 25, 2007. He stated that he did not feel he could continue acting at the level he wanted to. “You start to lose your memory, you start to lose your confidence, you start to lose your invention. So I think that’s pretty much a closed book for me.”

Newman was a co-founder of Newman’s Own, a food company from which Newman donated all post-tax profits and royalties to charity. As of October 2008, these donations had exceeded US$250 million.

    What Causes Colon Cancer

There are quite a handful of causes for colorectal cancer including factors that place an individual at increased risk for this disease. we discuss the commonly known genetic and environmental factors, let’s look at what causes colon cancer.

    1. Age
Age is the biggest risk factor for colon cancer. It means that age can indirectly causes colon cancer? By comparing 50 years olds, one in four people has polyps and colon polyps may develop into colon cancer.

    2. Alcohol
Research has indicated that alcohol consumption increases colon cancer risk. It appears that what kind of alcohol you’re drinking and at what quantity and frequency can affect the risk.

    3. Diabetes
A study found that insulin dependency contributes to colon cancer development. In general, diabetics are up to 40% more likely to develop colon cancer than people who don’t have diabetes.

    4. Diet
Diets high in fat and cholesterol have been identified to cause colon cancer. Diets with low fiber, have also been associated with higher risk.

    5. Environmental
Research has proven that environment can play a vital role in colon cancer development. Where you live, who’s around you, your occupation, and even when you work may all affect your risk of developing colon cancer.

    6. Ethnicity, Race, and Social Status
Does colorectal cancer afflict everyone equally or are some groups of people more likely to be diagnosed than others? The explanations are varied, but some groups get colon cancer more often than others. Ethnicity, race, and social status can all play a part.

    7. Past Family Medical History
Most colon cancer happens in people with no family history of this condition. But, colon cancer can be hereditary in the family.

    8. Gender
You may have heard that men have higher chance to get colorectal cancer than women, but its really depending on the context.

    9. Genetics
Researchers estimate that about 25% of colon cancer cases have some sort of genetic link.

    10. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Inflammatory bowel disease, often characterized by conditions such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, heighten the risk of developing colorectal cancer.

    11. Lack of Exercise
There’s no denying that exercise is good for you. Research has shown that a sedentary lifestyle contributes to colon cancer development.

    12. Obesity
    Obesity increases colon cancer risk.

    13. Personal Medical History
Your personal medical history can significantly impact your chances of developing colorectal cancer. A medical history that includes polyps, bowel inflammation, or certain cancers is particularly relevant.

    14. Polyps
Virtually all colon cancer develops from adenomatous polyps in the colon, generally referred to simply as colon polyps. A personal or family history of polyps puts you at higher risk for colon cancer.

    15. Smoking
Long-term cigarette smoking causes colon cancer for two main reasons. First, inhaled or swallowed tobacco smoke transports carcinogens to the colon. Second, tobacco use appears to increase polyp size.

How Long Does It Take To Grill Chicken Breast

Chicken is difficult to cook well. If you overcook it, you will have dry, hard meat. If you under cook it, it’s too dangerous to serve it to anyone. Grilling chicken breasts can be tricky sometimes especially if you don’t have any experience grilling chicken before but I think with the help of a few tips and techniques, you’ll have an idea how to turn your chicken look and taste delicious. Timing is very essential in grilling chicken breast especially if you want it to be fully cooked and tenderly delicious.

Recommended: Official Secret Restaurant Recipes Yummy! Delicious!

Cooking time may vary depending on the temperature of the chicken itself and the grill, the thickness and the size of the chicken breasts and weather conditions may also affect your results if you’re cooking outside.

The thicker the chicken, the longer the time required for fully cooking it. Leaving the skin on the chicken would be better too because the skin holds a huge deal of flavor and it also helps the moisture of the chicken meat. You can also remove it after grilling if you want of course. So with the grill hot, it’s preferable to put the chicken breast over to the hottest area on the grill.

Usually, you grill the chicken for about 8 minutes before turning it to the other side but if the chicken breast is thicker, it should take about 12-15 minutes. You should make sure the when you flip the chicken over; it should have black grill marks. Between those marks, you’ll usually see white meat with no pink complexion. When grilling it, look for the sides to turn white around the edge of the breast. This indicates that the bottom side of the chicken is close to getting done. You only have to flip it once and remember to leave off the grill. You must also at least test the breast juices. It’s important for the juice to look clear, not bloody or pinkish when done.

You should also remember that it’s better to grill larger chicken breast than the small ones. But if you still want to cook the small ones, you can put those on the side of the grill. If you’re going to use some sauce as coating for the chicken, it’s best to apply it after the grilling is done and keep in mind that you should let it cook for about a minute for so to set the sauce.

What Causes Cancer – What Are The Causes Of Cancer

Ask a doctor. There are close to 200 different types of cancer. Cancerous cells can start in any type of body tissue. What affects one body tissue may not affect another. For example, tobacco smoke that you breathe in may help to cause lung cancer. Overexposing your skin to the sun could cause a melanoma on your leg. But the sun won’t give you lung cancer and smoking won’t give you melanoma. In other words, there is no single cause for any one type of cancer.

There are however some factors that may increase the risks of someone getting cancer, they are:
    i) carcinogen – such as tobacco smoke and abestos are some things that may cause cancer. Prolong exposure may result in development of cancer.
ii) age – as we age, the risk of developing cancer is higher.
iii) genetic – it could be an individual’s genes that make him more vulnerable to cancerous cells.
iv) bacterial infection – it is not proven all bacterial infection can cause cancer, buy stomach ulcers which are caused by infection, can lead to cancer.
    v) immune system – a weak immune system is more skeptical to cancer development.
vi) environment – being exposured to certain atmosphere can lead to cancer too.
vii) viruses – example will be cervical cancer caused by HPV.

What Does A Boil Look Like – What Causes A Boil

What does a boil look like and what causes a boil? A boil is a localized infection deep in the skin that can be caused by anything from sweat and dirt to an ingrown hair, splinter or cut. A boil generally starts as a tender area, is red in color and painful to touch. A boil is also referred to as a skin abscess.

After a few days, the boil will become bigger, softer and quite sore. This is because pus has formed inside the boil. The pus is full of bacteria and white blood cells that are trying to fight the infection.

Pictures of boils. There are many causes of boils. Some boils can be caused by an ingrown hair, a splinter or other foreign material that has become lodged in the skin. Others boils, such as those of acne, are caused by plugged sweat glands that become infected.

The skin is an important part of our immune defense against materials and microbes that are foreign to our body. Any break in the skin, such as a cut or scrape, can develop into a skin abscess should it become infected with bacteria.

What Does An Ulcer Feel Like – Stomach Ulcers

What does an ulcer feel like exactly? How can you know for sure that you have a stomach ulcer? Should you see a doctor?

stomach-ulcersA stomach or gastric ulcer (peptic ulcer) is a break in the tissue lining the stomach. Because stomach ulcers are deep inside your digestive tract, it’s not easy to diagnose yourself with an ulcer, without a physical examination.

Signs and symptoms for a stomach ulcer are that the sufferer feels like he’s having slight pain, like a sharp ache between the breastbone and belly button. Frequently, this pain is felt only a few hours after you have eaten. However, the pain can also occur at those times when your stomach is empty.

You may also feel nausea, lose some weight and loss of appetite, or even altered blood present in the vomit or in the bowel motions.

It is best to see a doctor pretty soon when you see these symptoms in you. Because a severe, untreated ulcer can sometimes burn through the wall of the stomach, allowing digestive juices and food particles to leech into the abdominal cavity. This is known as a perforated ulcer. The only treatment would be immediate surgery.

What Are The Causes Of Swollen Legs Ankles – Peripheral Edema

Swollen ankles, feet and legs, referred to medically as peripheral edema, occur when fluid is retained in the spaces between body cells. Peripheral edema of the feet and ankles is a common problem, particularly among elderly people. While edema typically affects the feet, ankles and lower legs, it can also affect any area of the body too.

Edema can be caused by a serious condition of the kidney, heart, liver or blood vessels, but many other factors can contribute to its onset, including:

    - Abusing diuretics
    - Abusing drugs extensively
    - Eating a poor diet high in salt (sodium) and carbohydrates
    - Pregnancy and PMS
    - Neuromuscular disorders
    - Taking birth control or hormone replacement therapy pills
    - Varicose veins and history of phlebitis
    - Allergic reactions
    - Trauma

Other causes of swollen legs, ankles can be due to:
    - Prolonged standing
    - Blood clot
    - Leg infection
    - Insect bite or sting
    - Starvation or malnutrition

What Are The Final Stages Of Dying From Congestive Heart Failure

Signs And Symptoms Of Congestive Heart Failure

Are you or your loved ones suffering from congestive heart failure? The various final stages of congestive heart failure can be very frightening for the patient and his loved ones. Not to scare anyone, but congestive heart failure can definitely lead to congestive heart failure death if not treated in time.

Recommended: Special Report On Heart Disease And How To Cure It

Stage 1 of CHF, it is when a person does not have heart failure yet, but has a greater risk for heart failure because he has other conditions such as hypertension, coronary artery disease or diabetes. Usually you get heart failure over a period of time – maybe even years, before it is diagnosed or showing symptoms of it.

Stage 2 of CHF, which is the early stages of congestive heart failure, a lot of time, a person will have no prominent symptoms. He can still do most things and no physical signs or symptoms.

Stage 3 of CHF, over time there are signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure that show that the situation is worsen:
    i) One may get tired easier.
    ii) Persistent coughing or wheezing
iii) Constantly feeling faint or dizzy.
    iv) Short of breath.
    v) Feeling nausea.

And as time goes by, more symptoms like
    a) Mentally disorientated.
    b) Have fluid buildup, especially in the legs.
    c) Weight gain due to edema.
    d) Rapid breathing.
    e) Bluish skin
    f) Feelings of restlessness, anxiety and suffocation.

Watch out for these signs. With early and proper congestive heart failure treatment, you may live a long time even with heart failure. Nevertheless, some adjustments have to be made to your lifestyle and diet.

Stage 4 of CHF, in the final stages (congestive heart failure final stages), congestive heart failure that develops or gets worse quickly needs to be treated on an emergency basis in a hospital. Diuretics can be injected, and drugs (such as nitroglycerin) can be given to improve comfort. But at this stage the condition can be fatal.

In some cases it may be necessary to use a mechanical ventilator to assist in breathing. Certain hormones similar to adrenaline can be given on a short-term basis to help the heart muscle work more effectively.

Hence if you can prevent yourself from suffering from congestive heart failure then you and your family will not have to endure through the stages of congestive heart failure. Live healthily!!

What Are The Symptoms Of Congestive Heart Failure

Signs And Symptoms Of Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive heart failure occurs when the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. As the congestive heart failure progresses, other conditions like high blood pressure (hypertension) and coronary artery disease can slowly weaken and damage the heart, causing it to lose its ability to function effectively.

Recommended: Special Report On Heart Disease And How To Cure It

And while the damage that occurs is often permanent and irreversible, medications can go a long way to ease the signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure.

Below are some of the congestive heart failure symptoms:

    - Lack of appetite, nausea or sickly

    - Kidney failure, kidney start to lose its ability to function effectively.

    - Shortness of breath, fatigue and constant need for air.

    - Persistent coughing or wheezing

    - Buildup of excess fluid in body tissues

    - Reduced mental functioning

    - Increased heart rate, to compensate for the lost of effectiveness.

A more detail explanation on signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure is the lack of ability of the heart to pump blood to supply the demands of tissues for oxygen and other nutrients. It is more likely to occur on the left side of the heart because that part takes a greater work load of pumping blood than the right side. The result of the dysfunction is associated with various cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, cardiomyopathy or valvular disorders.

Most of the affected patients with congestive heart failure resulted from coronary artery disease in which one of the artery carrying oxygen-rich blood that connect from the aorta to the heart muscle is obstructed by the fat deposits and other substances that form as a plaque, the condition called atherosclerosis. The signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure depend on which side of the heart is affected.

The following signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure are divided into two categories which refer to the left and right side of the heart.

    Left-Sided Heart Failure

Pulmonary Congestion – This is a common signs of congestive heart failure in which the ventricle fails to pump out the blood from the ventricle to the rest of the body. With this condition, the pressure and blood volume of the left ventricle increase which then decrease the blood flow from the pulmonary vessels. As a result, there will be a backward failure happens impairing the gas exchange between the pulmonary capillaries and alveoli.

Shortness of Breath (Dyspnea) – This will likely occurs when the pulmonary gas exchange is impaired resulting to lack of oxygen supply in the lungs. The patient may even have shortness of breath at rest or when exerting moderate effort. To alleviate dyspnea, the patient may lie with 2-3 pillows to elevate the head and chest. Another measure also is to sit on the bed on high-back rest or sleep in a sitting up position.

Cough – A non-productive cough may produce during exertion. The cough is usually mistaken as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. A frothy pink (blood tinged) sputum may also happen when the cough is moist.

    Right-sided Heart Failure

Edema – Because the right-sided of the heart fails to eject blood, the blood that returns from the rest of the body cannot be accommodated resulting to swelling of the lower part of the body. Usually the ankles and the feet are swollen but later progress up to the legs and thighs.

Hepatomegaly – The liver is swollen because of the high pressure from the veins that engorge organ. The patient with right-sided heart failure may experience pain on the upper quadrant of the abdomen in which the liver is located.

Ascites – This is the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. The abdominal girth is increased due to the fluid that is being forced from the portal vessels’ high pressure as the liver dysfunction progresses.

Other signs and symptoms of right-sided heart failure are loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal pain and distended neck veins. Most of the signs are related to swelling and distending of body parts because of the dysfunction of the right ventricle to accommodate the blood that returns to the heart for oxygenation.

The severity of congestive heart failure may trigger from other underlying conditions such as anemia and increase metabolic rate. If the symptoms are getting worse, a prompt consultation to the physician is needed to treat the disease.

What Causes Heart Failure – What Is Congestive Heart Failure

Are you wondering what causes heart failure? Basically heart failure can be caused by anything that damages the heart muscle and prevents the heart muscle from contracting or relaxing in a normal way. Over time, natural consequence of aging, the heart weakens. It isn’t able to fill with and/or pump blood as well as it should effectively. Some health conditions can also affect the heart muscle, causing it to fail.

The most common and predominate causes of heart failure are:

    - After a heart attack (myocardial infarction)
    - Narrowing of the heart’s arteries (coronary artery disease, angina)
    - High blood pressure (hypertension)

There are other things that may cause or contribute to heart failure, they include:

    - Abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
    - Diabetes
    - Heart defects present at birth (congenital heart disease)
    - Leaking or narrowing of heart valves (valvular regurgitation or stenosis)
    - Diseased heart muscle (cardiomyopathy)
    - Certain types of cancer
    - Infections of the heart (endocarditis)
    - Lung disease
    - Underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
    - Certain medical treatments
    - Anemia
    - Constant alcohol abuse

What Occurs During A Heart Attack

Have you ever wonder what exactly occurs during a heart attack and what are the side effects of a heart attack? In this article we will find out more.

As we know the heart muscle requires a constant supply of oxygenated blood to nourish it. The coronary arteries provide the heart with this critical oxygenated blood supply. If you have coronary artery disease, those arteries become extremely narrow and blood cannot flow smoothly.

Recommended: Special Report On Heart Disease And How To Cure It

Cholesterol, calcium, proteins, and inflammatory cells build up within the arteries to form plaques of different sizes and when these plaque are harden, outer shell cracks (plaque rupture), platelets (disc-shaped particles in the blood that aid clotting) come to the area, and then blood clots form around the plaque.

If the blood clot entirely blocks the artery, then the heart muscle becomes “deprived” of oxygen. Then death of heart muscle cells occurs, causing permanent irreversible damage. This is a heart attack.

Each coronary artery supplies blood to a region of heart muscle. The amount of damage to the heart muscle depends very much on the size of the area supplied by the blocked artery and the time between injury and treatment. The heart’s wound heals and normally a scar will form in the damaged area.

However, the new scar tissue does not contract or pump as well as healthy heart muscle tissue. So, the heart’s pumping ability will not be as effective and strong as before the heart attack. Those are the side effects of a heart attack.

What Causes Shingles – Who Gets Shingles

Shingles is an infection caused by the chicken pox, varicella zoster virus. Even though it is the same virus, however, shingles generally erupts in a band on one side of the body, rather than all over the body.

shingles causesAfter a patient has chickenpox, the varicella zoster virus lives in the nervous system and is never fully cleared from the body. Eventually, it may reactivate and travel along nerve pathways to your skin — producing shingles.

However for most cases of shingles, the cause for the reactivation of the virus is never found. But it may be due to lowered immunity to infections as you grow older. It is more common in older adults and in people who have weak immune systems.

About 20 percent of people who have had chickenpox are affected by zoster at a later part of their life. Have a look at some shingles pictures.

What Are The Symptoms Of Shingles – Shingles Symptoms

Some people with shingles may feel quite ill at first, almost as though they are suffering from the flu. Most of the time before a rash is visible, the patient may observe several days of burning pain and sensitive skin.

shingles symptomsThe first signs of shingles, on the first to fourth day, are headache, upset stomach, fever, chills, and fatigue, similar to coming down with a cold or flu.

By the third to fourth day, a red rash will erupt on the skin. This will be painful and sometimes itchy. This could occur on the face, torso, back, and hips, or even the neck, arms, and legs.

Around the fifth day, that rash turns into what is the unmistakable shingles: groups of tiny, clear blister on a red base. The nerve carries pain to the affected area, varying from a dull ache, to intense, shooting spasms. At this point, a physician can usually make a correct diagnosis. Have a look at some shingles pictures.

In short, symptoms of shingles are:

    i) Fever
ii) Pain, burning, numbness or tingling
    iii) Itching
iv) Fluid-filled blisters that break open and crust over

    v) A red rash that begins a few days after the pain
    vi) Upset stomach
    vii) Headache
    viii) Fatigue

What Are Shingles – Herpes Zoster Virus

Shingles (Herpes Zoster Virus) are caused by a reactivation of the chickenpox virus, varicella zoster. Most of the time only older people are affected, but sometimes younger people or those with deficient immune systems may develop shingles in their lifetime.

Unlike the rash of chickenpox, which covers huge parts of the body, the rash of shingles usually only affect a smaller area of skin on one side of the body. Up till today there is no cure for shingles, but treatment may help you get well sooner and prevent problems. Have a look at some shingles pictures.

As it is high risk for older people to have shingles and it can be fatal for older people, shingles vaccine, also known as Zostavax can be used in adults age 60 and older to prevent them from getting shingles.
